Alice Ayres
Alice Ayres joined the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) as President and CEO in April of 2018. Alice is responsible to AHP’s membership by inspiring, educating and serving those who transform health care through philanthropy. As health care continues to transform, philanthropy takes on an ever more critical role in the funding of key initiatives including the traditional ones of major gifts and campaigns as well as new areas like population health and initiatives around social determinants of health. Alice brings deep health care industry knowledge and broad experience across all aspects of the Association’s offerings to the role of CEO, which she employs as AHP develops new educational opportunities and tools to support the important work of health care development professionals.
Alice has devoted the last 15+ years of her career to supporting the health care industry and improving patient care. In addition to roles in events and education, Alice served as an executive director with The Advisory Board Company, a global research, technology, and consulting membership organization that partners with 4,500 organizations and more than 200,000 leaders across health care. While there, she spearheaded the creation of strategy sessions for member hospital and health system C-level executives which attracted the leadership of over 150 of the leading healthcare providers in the United States and abroad. Prior to joining The Advisory Board Company, Alice held marketing leadership roles at consumer-driven marketing companies including Kraft Foods and led sponsorship for The Atlantic’s Atlantic Live division.
Alice has served on several boards including The Madeira School and Princeton’s Campus Club. She received her MBA from The Kellogg Graduate School of Management and her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University. She lives in Bethesda, MD with her husband and her four children.
Diane Dukette
Diane Dukette serves as the Chief Development Officer for Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice, where she is honored to lead the finest development team possible. Their efforts have strengthened health care for our community with programmatic and capital projects such as the North Building, Kittredge Surgery Center, Breast Center, MGH Cancer Center, Childbirth Center, and Opioid and Pioneer Valley Memory Care Initiatives. The team’s current priority is the expansion of the Emergency Department.
Previously, Diane served as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Advancement at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she was an integral member of the team that secured the gift to name the Isenberg School of Management. She also had several stints at the Sisters of Providence Health System, most notably as Vice President, Fund Development, where she worked with volunteers and staff to secure the funding to build the Sister Caritas Cancer Center.
Diane holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a BA from Smith College. She is a recipient of the Outstanding Professional Fundraising Executive Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Western Massachusetts Chapter.
Diane is inspired by her clinical colleagues who care so deeply about our community as well as the community members who support their dreams of providing exceptional, compassionate care locally. On a personal note, she is the proud mother of two “Cooley Babies” and is quick to add that she drove past three other hospitals in order to have her children at Cooley.
Jack Hammond
Jack Hammond is a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General with multiple combat commands, and he currently serves as the Chief Executive for the Home Base National Center of Excellence for Mental Health and Brain Injuries. Hammond is a decorated combat leader and private sector innovator who has served on advisory groups for presidents, governors and businesses. Hammond has also presented on his innovative programs and leadership at the White House, United Kingdom’s Parliament, Presidential libraries, and with national companies working in defense, construction, biotechnology, marketing, and more.
General Hammond has led U.S. and NATO forces in combat and counter-terrorism operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. This includes; simultaneously commanding two separate Battalion level Task Forces on more than one hundred successful intelligence-fused counter-terrorist operations in Iraq, responding to both WMD events and Mass Casualty suicide bombings, and an attack on our US Embassy.
In 2012 Hammond was invited to lead Home Base, which is a unique partnership between the Boston Red Sox and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Over the past decade Hammond and his team have; established the nation’s first private sector Center of Excellence for the Invisible Wounds, developed innovative solutions for mental health and brain injuries, and leveraged the faculty and clinical resources of MGH and Harvard Medical School to reimagine Veteran mental health and brain injury care. All of these treatments are provided at no cost to the Veterans, and military service members, and families we care for.
General Hammond has advised President Obama’s Commission on Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization & the White House Veterans and Military Family Mental Health Conference, President George W. Bush’s Health and Well Being Task Force and Warrior Wellness Alliance, Secretary Bob McDonald’s MyVA Advisory Committee, Governor Mitt Romney’s Homeland Security Advisory Council, and Governor Charlie Baker’s Healthcare Transition Team & Veteran Advisory Council. He was the co-founder and Board Member for the Cystinosis Research Network and leads the Military Advisory Board for the NanoDX company.
General Hammond’s military awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, two Legion of Merit Medals (one for combat service), the Bronze Star Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals (one for Valor), two Valorous Unit Awards, the Combat Action Badge, the French Medal of National Defense, and the Bulgarian Medal of Mission Support. Hammond received the National VFW Commander in Chief’s Gold Medal of Merit in 2019. In 2020, General Hammond received the American Red Cross Heroes Award for his work at Boston Hope, and was inducted into the US Army Military Police Hall of Fame.
General Hammond earned a BS from the University of Massachusetts, an MS from Boston University, and completed a National Security Fellowship at Harvard University. In addition to the many military schools completed during his 31 years of service, Hammond also completed the Israeli Defense Force’s International Crisis Management Program and the NATO Counter Insurgent Leader Course in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Anne Klibanski, MD
Anne Klibanski, MD, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mass General Brigham, a Boston-based integrated healthcare system that includes internationally known Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, nationally recognized specialty hospitals, including Mass Eye and Ear, McLean, and Spaulding Rehabilitation, seven community hospitals, a health insurance company, physician networks, community health centers, home- based care, and long-term care services.
Appointed to her role as President and CEO in 2019, Dr. Klibanski’s vision for Mass General Brigham is to build the integrated academic health care system of the future with patients at the center, by transforming care, improving outcomes, and expanding impact locally, nationally, and globally.
As the largest private employer in Massachusetts with 82,000 employees and annual revenue of $16 billion, the non-profit healthcare system is the nation’s leading recipient of National Institutes of Health funding and is a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, establishing its position as a national leader in medical research and teaching.
Dr. Klibanski has led clinical integration of services across Mass General Brigham and is responsible for the development of new digital platforms to achieve digital care, including virtual urgent care, to make it easier for patients to access the system’s world-class care. She has overseen increased investment in leading-edge research that has the potential to revolutionize treatments, such as gene and cell therapy, leveraging the system’s $2.3 billion in annual research funding. The system’s innovation team has created more than 300 companies that are making broad impacts on human health, in various spaces – from therapeutics to diagnostics and research.
Under Dr. Klibanski’s leadership, Mass General Brigham has also committed significant resources to community health, with a particular investment in mental health programs. She has established “United Against Racism,” a long-term multi-year commitment to address the impacts that racism has on Mass General Brigham patients, employees, and the broader community.
Dr. Klibanski served as the healthcare system’s Chief Academic Officer from 2012 to 2019 and as Chief of Neuroendocrine at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is recognized internationally for her high-impact research in neuroendocrine disorders and pituitary tumors.
Dr. Klibanski received her B.A., magna cum laude in literature from Barnard College and her M.D. from New York University Medical Center. She is the Laurie Carrol Guthart Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Margaret Norton
Margaret Norton joined Mass General Brigham in 2017 as the Chief of Staff in the Office of the CEO. She is responsible for ensuring matters related to the CEO are coordinated in a timely, strategic and orderly manner as to ensure the advancement of Mass General Brigham’s goals and objectives. This includes research, strategic counsel and editorial support for both internal and external matters, close collaboration with Mass General Brigham’s leadership, and coordination with members of the business and civic communities.
Prior to joining Mass General Brigham, Margaret was Director of Corporate Communications for nearly 20 years at Eversource (previously NSTAR) and was responsible for corporate advertising, branding and related external customer communications, large-scale sponsorships, employee and community giving and philanthropy, and employee communications. Prior to joining Eversource, Margaret worked at several Boston public relations agencies and at her alma mater Emmanuel College.
She currently serves on the board of directors for Camp Harbor View and has served as a member of the Salvation Army Greater Boston Advisory Board, A Better City, and the board of trustees at Notre Dame Academy Hingham.
Margaret received her BA in English Literature and Political Science from Emmanuel College and her MS in Communications Management from Simmons College. She resides in Weymouth, MA, with her husband Michael and their three children.
